Student Advice and Wellbeing team
Director: Yvonne Turnbull
Students are at the heart of everything we do at LJMU and enriching the student experience beyond their academic pursuits is a focus for the student advice and wellbeing service. In order for students to be successful in their studies, it is important that they enjoy a healthy and balanced lifestyle and that they have a full range of professional support in the background, including where appropriate from out occupational health team before and during their time at the university.
We are a dedicated and committed team providing direction, advice and guidance to our whole student community. We help with money matters, counselling, mental health and wellbeing, disability issues, international advice and sexual violence support amongst many other areas. In addition, we offer dedicated support to those who are care experienced or who care for others. We work within the city to secure accommodation for students and to ensure that they stay safe whilst out and about.
Safeguarding of students is of paramount importance to the university and this sits within Student Advice and Wellbeing. When students come to university they are classed as adults, but we are all human and from time to time, we all need support so occasionally, when our students need a little bit more, we are also the team that can provide that.
