Scholarships for international students
Introduction to LJMU Scholarships
Our scholarships range from £3000 to £5500 off your tuition fees. You do not need to apply for these separately. If you meet the criteria, we will send an update of your scholarship status in your unconditional offer letter.
Please note:
Courses with fees under £17,250 are not eligible for scholarships. However, students holding offers for these courses may still receive the Early Bird Tuition Fee Discount if they pay their deposit early.
Part-time students are not eligible for any discounts.

Eligibility
Be a self-funded international student.
Meet the conditions stated in your full-time course offer letter.
Essential criteria
Must have an offer and have firmly accepted their place before they are eligible to apply.
Not have already studied an undergraduate degree at LJMU (for UG scholarship).
Not have already studied a postgraduate degree at LJMU (for PG scholarship).
Have the funds to cover the remaining living costs, travel and any other costs associated with studying at the University.
Not also have funding from other external sources such as government or employer sponsorship.
Internal Funded Scholarships
When you apply for your chosen course, you will automatically be considered for the relevant scholarship. You do not need to submit a separate application.
We are excited to introduce a £500 Early Payment Discount to all self-funded international students. Students who pay their fees by the required deadlines will get £500 automatically deducted from their first year of tuitions fees.

Early Bird Tuition Fee Discount for September 2026 and January 2027 Business, Law, and Public Health
The Early Bird Tuition Fee Discount has been increased for students holding offers for September 2026 and January 2027 entry to the following postgraduate taught programmes:
Eligible students for these courses could now receive a £1,500 Early Bird Discount from their tuition fees - an increase of £1,000 from the standard amount. To qualify, students must pay their £5,000 deposit by the below deadlines:
September 2026 students: 10 July 2026
January 2027 students: 6 November 2026
Undergraduate International Achievement Scholarship
LJMU are pleased to offer eligible applicants a £3,000 tuition fee discount towards each year of their studies.
Postgraduate International Achievement Scholarship
LJMU are pleased to offer eligible applicants a £3,500 tuition fee discount towards the first year of their studies.
Please note:
Students studying LLM Legal Practice (SQE 1 and 2) and PGCert Foundations in Law Programmes are not eligible for this scholarship.
Postgraduate Regional Scholarship 2026 to 2027

2-Year Masters Scholarships
We are pleased to introduce a postgraduate scholarship offer for 2026 that covers both years of our two-year Master’s including MArch Architecture, MSc Social Work and MSc Nursing.
For example, a self-funded student who is taking the 2-year March Architecture will receive the £3,500 international achievement scholarship for each year of study. This would equal £7,000 total discount across the two years. Similarly, a student studying the same course who is eligible for a regional scholarship will receive £4,000 scholarship per year of study, equalling £8,000 across two years.
