International Welcome

We are proud to offer a truly welcoming environment for international students. Did you know that 94% of our international students rate their arrival experience positively, and 93% are satisfied with their overall LJMU experience altogether (International Student Barometer 2024).

At LJMU, you’re joining a community that’s supportive, welcoming, and ready to help you succeed.

Starting your journey at Liverpool John Moores University as an international student means you'll be invited to join our mandatory International Welcome, 9 to 11 September 2026, which takes place a little earlier than the main induction activities. Please find all deadline dates on the international applicant dates webpage.

Tailored support just for you

International Welcome is designed to help you settle into life in the UK, with useful information and sessions covering everything from studying at LJMU to living in Liverpool.

  1. Attendance and Visa requirements

If you're coming to LJMU on a student visa, please be aware that some parts of International Welcome are mandatory.

We strongly encourage all international students to attend these events, as they’re a great way to meet new people, ask questions, and feel more confident about starting your studies.

  2. Booking a place on the International Student Welcome programme

All new international students with an unconditional offer and who have paid their deposit will have received an invitation to book their place at International Welcome via Eventbrite from July.

Students can sign up for various workshops, faculty welcomes and social events on Eventbrite. It is important that you read all the information on Eventbrite and only book the relevant sessions to you. For example, please only choose the faculty welcome session for your faculty.

    Please note:
Booking a place on our International Welcome programme does not mean you are enrolled at the University. Once you have paid your deposit and received your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS), you will receive an email with instructions on how to complete your online registration.

For full details on how to enrol, please visit our Enrolment Information webpage.
