We have world-leading research across every part of the university, according to REF 2021, and an ambition to grow our research quality and impact. Underpinning our current impact is research and knowledge exchange which explores new boundaries and has an impact on the world around us.

Our partnerships have enabled local, national and international collaborations which have both furthered our research and allowed us to implement new ideas in the real world.

The work that we undertake is impactful and transformative in many different ways. Our collaborations will lead to changes in policy, health and well-being, social justice, economic benefit and job creation as well as keeping our educational offer at the cutting edge of knowledge.

The Research Excellence Framework 2021 verified the quality and depth of our activity, placing us in the top 50 in the UK for 'Research Power' and identifying world-leading scholarship in every corner of the university.
