Become a Degree Apprentice

The following steps outline the process of becoming a Degree Apprentice with LJMU.

Find an opportunity

Become an apprentice

If you aren’t already employed by a company that is willing to sponsor you through an apprenticeship, you’ll need to find one. You can do this by regularly checking the latest apprenticeship opportunities posted by employers through the Government’s Find an apprenticeship website. You can also approach an employer yourself to find out whether they would be interested in offering Degree Apprenticeships and ask them to contact LJMU.

Apply for the role and ensure you meet the course requirements

Just like any other job application, you’ll go through a recruitment process with the employer. You’ll also need to meet the entry requirements to attend Liverpool John Moores University just like any other student. To do this find your course and make sure you meet the requirements of the particular course associated with your Degree Apprenticeship.

Apply for your course

To apply for a Degree Apprenticeship course complete the online application form.

The application deadline is 12 weeks before the programme start date.

Part of the application process includes a review of your current levels of knowledge, skills and behaviours relevant to your chosen apprenticeship programme. Therefore, we cannot process applications any earlier than 6 months before the programme start date. Please bear this in mind when applying.

If your application is successful, you’ll enter into an apprenticeship agreement/contract with your employer which will set out the obligations of all parties involved in the apprenticeship.

From day one, you’ll be working towards achieving your award and all the while gaining valuable experience and earning a wage. You’ll continue working with your employer throughout the apprenticeship, developing your skills and enhancing your career opportunities.

Please note:
You must be in full time employment to be eligible for an apprenticeship and remain employed for the duration of your apprenticeship programme.

Start working and learning

From day one you’ll be working towards getting your degree and all the while gaining valuable experience and earning a wage. You’ll continue working with your employer throughout the apprenticeship and there’s a good chance you’ll be asked to stay on after the apprenticeship.
