The programme is a 8, 10 or 12-week programme which is delivered online through Microsoft Teams and the Insendi virtual learning platform. To complete the programme successfully, you must have a laptop or desktop computer and a reliable internet connection. Your device must have a working camera or webcam, and you will need a headset with a microphone. The Programme is available online for students holding a conditional offer that requires them to improve their English language level.
This programme will use a mixture of delivery methods to provide a supportive and engaging experience. This will include timetabled live classes with a tutor and as well as self-study activities. You will also be able to join enrichment activities and will have access to networking opportunities.
You will gain experience in:
- academic writing and speaking
- academic listening and reading
- analytical thinking and problem-solving
- digital skills for study
The programme aims:
- to improve your language skills for university studies, focusing on reading, speaking, academic writing, and listening
- to help you reflect on your learning and meet English language requirements for degree entry at Liverpool John Moores University and the UK Visa and Immigration Assessment.
Your performance will be managed through continual assessment and feedback. You will complete a variety of assessment tasks to evidence your development in English reading, writing, listening and speaking.
How to apply
The Pre-sessional English Language Programme Online is only available to conditional offer holders at LJMU.
After receiving a conditional offer for a degree at the University, you will be given the option to take the Pre-sessional English Language Programme Online if you meet the requirements.

You must have a conditional offer at LJMU with one condition being to improve your English score. You must also have an internationally recognised English Language qualification at a suitable level to be eligible for the programme.
