Liverpool’s green spaces
Parks and waterfront walks in Liverpool are firm favourites. Sefton Park boasts a stunning 235 acres with a boating lake, ideal for relaxation and nature exploration.
Festival Gardens is near the waterfront and features a peaceful Japanese-inspired landscape. Meanwhile The Otterspool Promenade stretches along the River Mersey and provides breath-taking water views.
Princes Park offers meandering paths, a serene lake, and plenty of green space, while Calderstones Park is known for its historic megaliths, beautiful gardens, and Calderstones Mansion.
Top beaches near Liverpool
Liverpool is perfectly situated within easy reach of a number of beaches. Walk, cycle or roller skate along the prom at New Brighton, or head across to Hilbre island in West Kirby.
The further north of Liverpool you head, the more beaches you will find. Closest is Crosby Beach, home to Antony Gormley’s Another Place art installation, whilst Formby beach is a little further away, surrounded by sand dunes.
Liverpool is well placed to explore some of the North West’s best locations - all easily accessible by train, bus, ferry or car.

Beyond Liverpool, the surrounding areas host a variety of festivals and events that offer a taste of local culture and traditions. Creamfields is a world-leading electronic dance festival that hosts top DJs and unforgettable EDM performances in Daresbury, Cheshire.

Liverpool’s well placed to explore some of England’s most popular cities - all easily accessible by train, bus, ferry or car.
Beyond Liverpool, some of the UK’s most exciting cities are within easy reach. Chester, with its Roman walls, medieval architecture, and charming shops, offers a mix of history and modern culture.
Manchester, known for its vibrant music scene and rich industrial history, is just a short train ride away.
If you’re up for a longer trip, London is just over two hours away by train, making it easy to explore the capital's world-famous attractions.
Best walking trails
Liverpool offers scenic walking trails for nature lovers. Explore Sefton Park’s 235 acres of woodlands, gardens, and lakes or visit historic Calderstones Park. The Wirral Way, a 12-mile path with stunning Dee Estuary views, is ideal for walking or biking.
The Sandstone Trail in Cheshire offers 34 miles of varied routes through hills and villages.
For a challenge, hike Snowdonia National Park’s trails, including Mount Snowdon, Wales' highest peak. Whether for a short stroll or a full-day trek, there’s a trail for every level.
Outdoor activities and adventures
For adventure lovers, the area surrounding Liverpool offers plenty to explore. A day trip to Chester Zoo is perfect for animal lovers or visit Knowsley Safari Park for a drive-through immersive experience.
