Dr Magomed Muradov is a Reader in Sensor Technologies whose research focuses on the design and development of bespoke electromagnetic antenna structures for sensing. As a part of his PhD, he investigated the design philosophy of the optimal structure of microwave system for the detection of water activity in cured meat products in 2017. This work resulted in a granted patent. After completing his PhD, he joined Sensor City Liverpool Ltd (one of four UK University Enterprise Zones) as an Industrial Software Specialist and lead a team of engineers in supporting Liverpool City Region based manufacturing and tech companies to adopt Industry 4.0 technologies. The role involved an engagement with the companies to identify and solve their industrial challenges, namely development of new products based on sensors systems, software and hardware design, knowledge transfer and the acceleration of ideas from concept through to commercialisation. Magomed has successfully delivered the programme (the total budget of over £4m) by supporting over 30 companies with their industrial challenges, creating new jobs, new products to firms and market. While working at Sensor City, he had been actively involved in academic research, which focuses on non-destructive measurements based on microwave sensing systems in food quality control, material characterisation and healthcare. In 2019, Magomed joined LJMU as a Lecturer in the Faculty of Engineering and Technology. He is currently working on various externally funded research grants with the total budget of over $2m
