Environmental works on campus

The John Lennon Art and Design Building will be closed for a period over the summer to enable major works to be carried out to enhance its sustainability.

The project, led by the Estates Development and Campus Services team, is part of the university’s programme to decarbonise the estate.

The building will close on 1 June 2025 - except for areas required for the Degree Show, which will remain accessible until the following week - and is scheduled to reopen at the start of September 2025.

Colleagues based in the building will be accommodated elsewhere on campus during this period, with facilities made available in the Henry Cotton Building. Staff are also welcome to work remotely from other buildings on campus over the summer.

The project management team has been meeting regularly with staff based in the building to communicate the plans and consult with staff on their requirements over the summer. If any colleagues have any questions about the arrangements over the summer, please speak to your line manager in the first instance.
