Congratulations to our graduates in Qatar!

The LJMU community shared in the celebrations of our friends at Oryx Universal College on achieving their degrees in 2024 and welcomes them to the LJMU family of alumni.

Professor Tim Nichol, pro-vice-chancellor for the Faculty of Business & Law, attended the ceremony on January 26 which saw 150 students conferred with LJMU awards at the one of the country’s flagship venues, the Qatar National Convention Centre.

He said: “Today you, our graduates, become part of a large international community of Liverpool John Moores University alumni. So, it is a real pleasure to be here to share the celebrations with you.”

The event celebrated graduates from LJMU’s diverse portfolio of programmes offered through its partnership with Oryx Universal College. Among the ‘Class of 2024’ were the first female Civil Engineering graduates to graduate from the degree programme in the state of Qatar.

Also celebrating were the first graduates from the first cohort of MSc Leadership and Management Practice programme.

LJMU and Oryx welcomed dignitaries from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education of the State of Qatar, the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Qatar Petrochemical Company, Aspire Academy, KPMG, Kahramaa, Ashghal (Public Works Authority), Al Jazeera Media Network, Qatar Free Zones, North Oil Company, and Ooredoo Group.

OUC President Azmy Ameer celebrated the remarkable achievements of the graduates and acknowledged the unwavering support of their families and faculty. Quoting Nelson Mandela, he emphasised the transformative power of education as a tool to inspire change and create a brighter future.

The 5-year successful partnership, between Oryx Universal College and LJMU, has now welcomed over 400 highly skilled graduates to their alumni community. These graduates are making significant contributions across various industries and communities, extending their influence regionally and globally.
