Dr Martha Lomeli-Rodriguez completed her PhD in social psychology in 2022 at University College London, where she researched cross-cultural differences in happiness and subjective well-being. She then became a postdoctoral research fellow for "Resilient School Hubs", a UKRI-ESRC-funded interdisciplinary project aiming to foster psychological resilience in tsunami and earthquake survivors in Palu, Indonesia. During this time, she co-developed Recover with Music, a community-led intervention that combines storytelling activities, breathing techniques, and songwriting exercises to promote psychological recovery in adolescents who have experienced mass trauma. In partnership with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, Recover with Music has been implemented in communities of young refugees in Chad, Jordan, Ecuador, and El Salvador.
Currently, Martha's research continues to focus on using music and creative methods to promote the well-being of marginalised and at-risk populations and advocate for social justice.
