Pelumi is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Civil Engineering and Built Environment (CBE), LJMU and Honorary Senior Research Fellow (HSRF), Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction (BSSC), University College London, United Kingdom. He was Academic Liaison Tutor (Sessional) with the Quantity Surveying Team, CBE, LJMU from February to June, 2021. Pelumi is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) and a former Head of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Federal University of Technology, Akure, (FUTA), Nigeria. His area of specialisation is Geotechnical/Geoenviornmental Engineering. He was awarded the best PhD thesis in the discipline of Engineering in Nigeria [2009] in the Nigerian Universities Doctoral Thesis Award Scheme (NUDTAS), by the National Universities Commission (NUC). He secured a Research Advisor sabbatical attaché position at the Ogoni Restoration Project (ORP) Department, Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), Port Harcourt, Nigeria from January 2015 to December, 2015, engaging in site (soil and groundwater) assessment, remediation design and ecosystem restoration. He has also established research collaborations with several leading Universities and research centres in Africa, Europe, United States of America and the United Kingdom. He was a FUTA, Nigeria host to a University of North Carolina, Charlotte (UNCC), USA, fellow in the Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship Programme (CADFP) 2018/2019, sponsored by the Institute of International Education (IIE), USA. His postgraduate research supervision involvement and mentoring drive for students is impressive. He has supervised over 150 Bachelors, Postgraduate Diploma and Masters dissertations. He has completed the supervision of three Ph.D. candidates, including one common wealth scholarship supported Ph.D. Thesis in Civil and Environmental Engineering as a major supervisor.
He is a module tutor for [Infrastructure, Highway design and Innovation], [Engineering Mathematics] and [Science and Materials}.
