My University Clearing story – Sebastian, Law (LLB)

I’m Sebastian from Darlington, and I am currently in the third year of my Law LLB studies. On Results Day I didn’t get the grades that I was hoping for and though my first-choice university did offer me a different course, it was not a subject I had any interest. I knew I wanted to be at university in Liverpool, so I applied to LJMU…

What happened on Clearing?

I did not get the exact grades that I was hoping for and while my first-choice university did offer me a different course, it was not a subject I had any interest in. I knew I wanted to be in Liverpool, and after reading through the LJMU website and seeing the legal experience that I could gain throughout the course and the international opportunities I could take part in, I decided to apply through Clearing.

Once I had applied on UCAS, I received a call from the head of the course just asking if I had any questions and whether I would be joining LJMU in September.

What happened after your place was confirmed?

After my place at LJMU was confirmed, I made sure to update my Student Finance England account, so it had the correct university and course attached.

I then began searching for accommodation and fortunately most of the accommodations still had some rooms left and I was able to get the one that I wanted!

After that I was able to complete the enrolment in advance of freshers' week and I was sent my student card in the post - I immediately had access to everything before I even moved to Liverpool.

What’s your favourite thing about LJMU?

My favourite thing about LJMU is that the courses are about so much more than just about the academic side of university. In my course, we are given opportunities and encouraged to gain real world experience which can be used to bolster our CVs and offers chances to show what you can do outside of standard university assignments. Plus, the international opportunities that LJMU offer allow everyone to experience studying, working, or living in a different country.

What’s your favourite thing about Liverpool?

My favourite thing about Liverpool is the city turning out for any event. Whether it is St Patrick’s Day, the races, or something else, it feels like the entire city is out to celebrate, and the atmosphere is always amazing.
