LJMU marches with Pride

Students, staff, alumni and friends came together to represent LJMU at Liverpool Pride March 2026 over the weekend. 

Almost 100 members of the LJMU community, wearing LJMU pride t-shirts, joined thousands of people taking to the streets of Liverpool to march in solidarity with the LGBT+ community.  

Pride is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of LGBT+ communities while recognising that there is still work to be done to achieve equality and inclusion. Organised by LJMU's Diversity and Inclusion team and John Moores Students' Union (JMSU), joining the Liverpool City Region Pride March is an opportunity to stand together in support of a more inclusive future and to be part of a vibrant city-wide celebration. 

Those in attendance met at the Student Life Building where LJMU Deputy Director of Human Resources, Greg Thompson, reiterated the importance of pride: 

"Liverpool Pride is a great event in the LJMU calendar, where our students, staff and friends can come together and show their solidarity with the LGBTIQ+ community in Liverpool and around the world.

"I'm proud to work at such an inclusive university and it's fantastic to see so many members of our community join us to march across the city."
