Zenova partnership for energy efficient homes

Leading LJMU construction industry partner Zenova Plc has seen its share price jump after unveiling a paint that can improve EPC ratings on homes and businesses.

The application of insulating decoration – called Zenova IP – which can cut utility bills and energy consumption follows a successful AKT Project with LJMU’s School of Civil Engineering & Built Environment.

Its’ launch comes after the recent implementation of the requirement in the UK that all rented residential properties meet the minimum EPC standard of C or above by 2028.

A statement on the company website said: “Zenova are pleased to announce the conclusion of this very successful AKT Project during 2022-2023 with Liverpool John Moores University.

“This demonstrated the effectiveness of Zenova IP (insulating paint) which provides remediation for many buildings not only in the UK but globally in the fight against global warming and increasing insulation requirements for homes and workplaces.

"We would like to thank the team at Liverpool John Moores university, headed by Dr Monower Sadique for their work and support following Zenova’s successful Innovate UK funding grant of £30,000 to undertake the trial and prepare the report.£

Zenova CEO Tony Crawley said: “This has been an amazing project working with Liverpool John Moores University and has demonstrated in detail the true benefits that Zenova IP can offer. We look forward to working with the University in the near future.

“These findings will now allow the Zenova product to work as a standalone system, or with other Products such as double glazing, solar, wall cavity to improve EPC ratings as combined systems.”

Research Lead at LJMU, Dr Monower Sadique said: “This was a very exciting project for myself and a team of five colleagues to work on with the Zenova team. It is very rewarding when positive results from innovation come through to fruition and can make a difference in the world. A very impressive product with a very bright future “

AKTs or Accelerated Knowledge Transfer projects are Innovate UK-funded initiatives to match organisations to academic research  groups to boost innovation and growth.
