Latest film celebrates 200 years of 'Radical Influence'

LJMU has released its penultimate film of the Bicentenary year, to celebrating 200 years of the university and its ‘radical influence.’ 

The film, titled ‘200 years of Radical Influence’ celebrates some of the university's founders and graduates, over the years, who have championed change and gone against the social norms of their times. 

The film spotlights: William Roscoe who voted to abolish slavery in the 1800’s; Irene Marsh who ‘proved women of all classes and capabilities could compete’ in the early in 1900’s; plus Julian Cope who ‘exploded the post-punk movement’ in the 1980’s. 

As well as looking at the past 200 years, the film also highlights what we are doing today, fighting for our communities, pushing radical conservation and driving change forward. 

The film is the fifth in a series of Bicentenary films, made in 2023 to celebrate the year, made by Mocha, a Liverpool-based film company founded and run by LJMU alumni. 

The sixth and final film of the Bicentenary year will be released in November and will celebrate LJMU and the socially engaged institution that it is.You can view all of LJMU’s Bicentenary videos here.
