Geoff Bates is a PhD student at the Public Health Institute. His PhD is looking at the development of interventions to reduce harms associated with anabolic steroid use in the general population. His research interests include theories and interventions to influence behaviour change and decision making, intervention development, harm reduction, substance use, addiction and body image.
Previously he worked in the Institute's Evidence Review team and was responsible for working on systematic and other evidence reviews and primary research studies on a broad range of public health topics. Recently he has co-ordinated the UK National IPED survey and led evidence reviews on behalf of NICE and the Irish Department of Health. Geoff has contributed to the Public Health Institute's teaching programme, particularly on research methods modules and leading the postgraduate module Understanding Addictions.
