Partnerships
Making a difference is what LJMU is about.
For over 200 years, we’ve been championing change. Through education and working in partnership with people and organisations, we have enhanced the lives of our students, our communities and wider society.
Throughout our history, we have sought to work in partnership to address the social, structural and economic conditions of Liverpool and the city region. This goal remains the driving force behind our work now: to make a difference at home and further afield.
We have a significant footprint in Liverpool, with almost 28,000 students on our campuses and 2,800 staff, 83% of whom live in the city region. Internationally, we are reaching 21,000 students through 26 collaborative partnerships in 15 countries.
LJMU plays a crucial role in raising attainment levels, aspiration and creating pathways into education and employment. This is demonstrated by the fact that 45% of our undergraduates come from the most deprived geographic areas of the city region. We are committed to providing opportunities and helping everybody to fulfil their potential.
Working with our partners, we drive growth in the city region - building the economy, addressing challenges and unlocking potential. Our impact is clear. LJMU is:
- at the forefront of innovation
- supporting organisations from start-ups to multi-national businesses
- ensuring our students have the skills, experience and behaviours needed by employers
We take our social responsibilities seriously and engage with schools, colleges, charities and community groups to deliver positive and meaningful societal change.
LJMU is more than just a university in Liverpool. We are an institution deeply committed to reflecting and serving our community and making a positive difference.
