What’s happening around campus and the city this spring/summer?



As we dive into the final semester of teaching and exams for the academic year, there's a selection of events and activities both on campus and around Liverpool not to miss. 

Recent graduate Izzy looked ahead to what's happening over the next few weeks and gave her top picks of the events coming up this spring/summer: 

Around Campus 

April and May: April is Stress Awareness Month  

  • JMSU is hosting a range of events to support students during the assessment period which takes place between 22 April to 3 May. From free lunches, yoga and sound bath events to therapy dogs sessions, there’s something to help you relax and recharge.

April and July: Graduation 

  • A big congratulation to all the students graduating from LJMU this April and July! There’s sure to be a buzz on campus over the next couple of months as gowning will be held in the Sports Building this year, preceding the ceremonies at Liverpool Anglican Cathedral. This semester: Student Advice and Wellbeing Events 

  • It may be the final semester of the academic year, but our Student Advice and Wellbeing team still has lots of activities going on, remember to explore the diverse range of events available, including Bibliotherapy workshops, Neurodiversity Support Group meetings, Graduate Route Webinars, and more. Discover more about these events.  

From now until 31 August: Student Gym Membership 

  • As a student, you can bag a gym membership for just £20, valid until Saturday 31 August. The membership grants you access to the LJMU gym, sports hall and courts, equipment plus various fitness classes, including Yoga, Pilates, Spin, Strength & Conditioning, Boxing Fitness, and more all included in your membership. You can book your sessions through the LJMU Sport app or sign up to a gym membership here.

    Around the City 

  • 27 June to 24 July: Beyond Van Gogh 
    Experience the magic of Van Gogh’s masterpieces like never before. Witness over 300 artworks, including iconic pieces like “The Starry Night”, “Cafe’ Terrace at Night” and “Sunflowers”, brought to life in a mesmerising display at Exhibition Centre Liverpool from Thursday 27 June to Wednesday 24 July. 

  • 12 to 14 July: In the Park Festival  
    Get ready for a three-day music extravaganza at Sefton Park from Friday 12 July until Sunday 14 July. In the Park 2024, presented by Cream and Live Nation, will feature top artists across various genres. From Jamie Webster to Cream Classical & Kaleidoscope Orchestra, it’s a festival you won’t want to miss. Learn more about the festival.
