Spring graduation celebrations begin

More than 1,000 students celebrated their achievements with family and friends on the first day of LJMU’s spring graduation ceremonies.

The magnificent Liverpool Cathedral was the venue for this special occasion in the university year, with students from LJMU’s Faculty of Health and Faculty of Business and Law being presented with their awards.

Proud and relieved

Dr Nicky Knowles spoke of her pride at being awarded her Professional Doctorate in Health Psychology.

Nicky (pictured above with her partner) studied for her doctorate alongside her work with Public Health Wales, where she is a principal behavioural science specialist.

“I feel really proud and relieved to be graduating with a Professional Doctorate in Health Psychology from LJMU.

“Undertaking this while working full time (working in public health during a global pandemic) has been one of the most challenging yet rewarding aspects of my career to date.

“The opportunities, challenge and support provided by the health psychology team has not only enabled me to complete the doctorate and advance my career, but also to embark on a new journey of self-discovery and to have the confidence to explore and re-establish my personal and professional identity.

“Huge thanks to the psychology team for their support, encouragement, experience and expertise and thank you to the wider university for the facilities and guidance provided.”

Go for it

Nicky’s advice to other people considering studying at LJMU is "just do it. It's a great place to study, with so much expertise and support to help you. Go for it."

Remembering the 97

At 3:06pm, the Cathedral fell silent to mark the 35th anniversary of the Hillsborough Disaster. A minute’s silence was observed to remember the 97 people who died, their loved ones and all who continue to be affected by the tragedy.
