Winning night for students at Patient Experience Network National Awards 2024



Congratulations to our student award winners

Students from across health were celebrated at the Patient Experience Network National Awards (PENNA2024) this October.

LJMU were shortlisted for several national awards with the winners and runners-up on the night including: 

  • Winner of the Student Patient Experience Network Educator of Tomorrow Award: LJMU Paramedic Society 

  • Winner of the Student Patient Experience Advocate of Tomorrow Awards: Freya Williams, Student Nurse (adult) 

  • Runner-up of the Student Patient Experience Educator of the Year : Olga Machado-Le- Gal, Student Midwife 

  • Runner-up of the Student Patient Experience Advocate of Tomorrow Award: Dianne Sharples, Health Psychologist in Training (School of Psychology) for recognition of her pioneering work embedding health psych into patient services at Emerging Futures CIC. 

The Patient Experience Network National Awards are the first and only awards programme to recognise best practice in patient experience across all facets of health and social care in the UK and students and staff from across LJMU Health attended the awards ceremony in Birmingham. 

Julie Williams, Director School of Nursing and Advanced Practice, said:

“Their dedication, innovation, and hard work have truly set them apart. Every student is an inspirational role model and their initiatives to improve the patient experience are worthy of this recognition. These awards are a testament to their outstanding contributions, commitment and enduring passion. We are thrilled to celebrate this well-deserved success with them.”
