Hiring managers will be required to add school/departmental and role-specific information to the corporate template which should include a brief introduction to the school/department, the main job purpose and key requirements of the successful candidate (consistent with information in the Job Description and Person Specification). Any additional information about the role, team or department that would be useful for candidates to know should also be included.
Please note
If there are any specific requirements such as a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check or a professional registration, these must also be included.
If interview dates are known, it is advised to include a provisional interview date in the advertisement to secure candidate availability at the earliest possible opportunity. Please be mindful that publishing a date that is unlikely to be adhered to will result in a negative candidate experience and will result in increased candidate queries and potential withdrawals, so don’t include it if it is unlikely to go ahead.
The HR team will review all adverts for quality and utilise Textio (an augmented writing platform) to ensure that there is no discriminatory language used, the advert does not deter any particular group from applying and is as engaging as it can be.
If you would like a Textio account to help with drafting your own adverts, please contact HRAssistant@ljmu.ac.uk and we will arrange for this to be set up.
If a vacancy is advertised externally, the University will promote vacancies using the following sources as standard (at no cost to the school/department) unless otherwise specified by managers:
- LJMU Redeployment vacancy page (further information about consideration of redeployment candidates can be found in the Shortlisting guidance).
- LJMU Intranet and LJMU website.
- Jobs.ac.uk (if an academic or senior/niche professional services role.
- LinkedIn.
- Diversity and inclusion job boards – BMEjobs.co.uk, Disabilityjob.co.uk and LGBTjobs.co.uk.
- X (formerly Twitter) will be used to promote relevant roles also.
Please note
Research roles that are funded will be required to pay for jobs.ac.uk adverts from local budgets.
If required, we can also advertise on the GOV.UK Find a Job service which is free of charge.
If further third-party advertising is required with industry/subject specific job boards or publications, applicable costs will be chargeable from school/departmental budgets. The HR Resourcing Team will enquire with the relevant source and provide a quote for approval prior to publishing.
