When you add a video to your Canvas course's Panopto folder, it is automatically shared with all students on that course.
Advantages:
- Easy and automatic
- All course students can see it
Things to watch out for:
- Students might not know the video is there
- You need to remind them to check the Panopto folder
- Tell them they can also access it through the mobile app and download it to watch offline (this is the only way to watch videos offline)
You can change who can see a recording or folder by changing the permission settings.
Advantages
- You can share with students outside your course
- You can share with people beyond LJMU staff and students
- Gives you more control over who sees what
Things to watch out for:
Be very careful not to break agreed allowances
- If the recording contains a student talking or another staff member, everyone involved needs to agree before you share it more widely
- Review the Educational Video and Audio Policy
- Respect other people's personal data
For step-by-step instructions on sharing, see Share a Video
You can embed a video directly into a Canvas page.
Advantages:
- You can add information around the video
- You can embed it into activities
- Students see it as part of the page content
- More likely to be noticed than in the Panopto folder
Things to watch out for:
- Takes a bit more time to set up
