Panopto has a way to record straight from your web browser. This means you don'e need to download anything onto your computer to make a recording. It's a bit easier and simpler to use than the desktop app. This is great for quick recordings. It does almost everything the main software does.
When should you use Panopto Capture?
- You want to make a quick recording
- You don't want to install software
- You want something simplet and easy
Panopto lets you combine video feeds from different cameras when making a recording. This means you can record from several angles at the same time.
What can you use as camera feeds?
- A mobile device using the Panopto app
- Another laptop or desktop computer
- Another camera attached to your computer
Why would you do this?
Recording from multiple angles can be useful in many teaching situations:
- Lab demonstrations - one camera your face and explanation, another showing a close-up of the equipment or process
- Art or craft techniques - one camera showing the overall process, another showing detailed hand movements
- Music lessons - one camera showing your face and explanation, another showing your hands on the instrument
- Sports coaching - multiple angles showing different parts of a technique or movement
- Medical or clinical demonstrations - one camera showing the procedure, another showing the patient's response or equipment readings
- Cooking or food preperation - one camera showing you explaining, another showing a close-up of the cooking process
Using multiple cameras helps students see exactly what's happening from different perspectives, making it easier to understand complex processes.
