Your Financial Wellbeing
Financial wellbeing is just as important as physical wellbeing. Stress caused by money worries can impact your health in many ways, both physically and mentally. Financial problems can hit at any time and being in a tight spot financially is going to have an effect on your working day if you are constantly worrying.
The university has introduced several new financial wellbeing measures to support staff during the challenging financial period. The new measures help to ensure that a holistic offering is available and will cover financial education, access to advice, interest-free loans and discounts through the Vivup Benefits Platform.
Interest-free loans
Staff can access a range of interest-free loans:
LJMU staff loan
The LJMU staff loan enables you to access an interest-free loan up to a maximum of £1000. The loan can be used for the purchase of everyday items such as holidays, large goods or to clear outstanding credit balances, which are attracting interest payments. You can apply for the loan via 'Employee Self Service' in Staff Infobase, which can be found under 'Payment Requests and Loans' and then selecting the 'LJMU staff loan' option.
Please note:
You can only have one staff loan per year and must repay the loan in full before taking out a new loan.
Cycle to work loan
LJMU operates the cycle to work scheme through Cycle Solutions. Staff can take out a loan of up to £2000 towards the cost of a bike and/or accessories.
Tusker car loan
The Car benefit from Tusker gives you the chance to drive a brand-new, fully maintained, and insured vehicle for a manageable fixed monthly amount as part of our salary sacrifice scheme.
Annual season ticket travel loan
To obtain an annual season ticket travel loan, LJMU staff are required to complete the online application form via 'Employee Self Service' in Staff Infobase, which can be found under 'Payment Requests and Loans' and then select the 'Travel Loan Payments' option.
Visa loan
The Visa Loan Scheme for International Staff (PDF, 149KB) was launched to support new and existing international staff.

Vivup Benefits Platform
Through the provider Vivup, LJMU staff have access to a huge range of discounts across the UK's major retailers including supermarkets, technology, fashion, travel and much more. These discounts can all be redeemed as eGift cards making it a simpler process, as well as being a great option for presents and a useful way to save money on all your essentials.
