Dr Jennifer Barrett is a Lecturer in Physical Activity and Exercise Physiology at Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU). She is a member of the Cellular and Molecular Physiology for Life-long Health Research Group within the Research Institute for Sport and Exercise Sciences (RISES). Her research encompasses Exercise Metabolism and Nutrition investigating mechanisms of insulin resistance. Jen completed an undergraduate degree in Sport and Exercise Science in 2017 and went onto studying an MSc in Exercise Physiology (2017-2018). She followed this on with her PhD in Exercise Metabolism and Nutrition, successfully completing in 2023. After undergoing 2 post-doctoral positions, Jen secured her lecturing position at LJMU. Alongside this, she holds an honorary research fellow position at University of Liverpool where she contributes to researching nutritional interventions prior to colorectal surgery in cancer patients to improve post-operative outcomes.
