I joined the School of Computer Science and Mathematics of LJMU as a Research Fellow in August 2015, as a Lecturer in Networking and member of the PROTECT Research Centre in August 2019, and as a Senior Lecturer in Computing and Networking in August 2022. I received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Telecommunications Engineering from the University Mediterranea of Reggio Calabria (UNIRC), Italy in 2004 and 2007, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in Wireless Communications from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Barcelona, Spain in 2015. From 2007 to 2009, I was a Research Assistant with UNIRC.

My research interests include wireless networks optimization, dynamic spectrum access in cognitive radio networks, Software-Defined Networking, Internet of Things (IoT), Wi-Fi networks, 5G and beyond, and heterogeneous networks. I have been co-investigator of the Wi-5 research project funded by the Horizon 2020 (H2020) Framework Programme of the European Union, the projects Liverpool 5G and 5G Create funded by the Sensor City consortium of Liverpool. I have been also involved in the SALICE project funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MIUR) and the OneFIT project funded by the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) of the European Union.

I have served as Technical Program Committees (TPC) member of several IEEE conferences, including IEEE ICC, WCNC, GLOBECOM, ISCC and VTC and as reviewer for IEEE and non-IEEE conferences, and peer-reviewed journals. I am Guest Editor of Elsevier Computer Networks, MDPI Future Internet and Hindawi Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing, and a Founding Member of the Special Interest Group (SIG) on Social Behaviour Driven Cognitive Radio Networks.
