Yinan is a senior lecturer in Law. She is module leader for Maritime Law (LLB), Contract Law (LLB) and International Maritime Law (LLM). She also teaches a range of modules at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, mainly including Tort Law, Independent and Legal learning Skills, and Remedies. Prior to joining LJMU, she received her LLM degree from Lund University, Sweden and completed her PhD at the University of Central Lancashire where she started teaching a range of Law subjects across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Yinan supervises projects and dissertations on taught postgraduate and undergraduate Law programmes. She also acts as the cohort tutor of Level 5 of LLB and personal tutor providing academic support for LLB and LLM students.
Yinan has been undertaking research in International Law, Maritime Law and Chinese Law. Her PhD focused on the issues in relation to carriage of cargos within Maritime Law and she has presented papers at conferences and published articles concerning issues on International Law and Maritime Law.
