I am an experienced academic leader with a strong programme development, teaching, and external collaboration background. I serve as the Programme Leader at Liverpool John Moores University, overseeing the BSc Business Management programme. I focus on enhancing student engagement, retention, and overall experience. My academic journey has been shaped by practical business leadership and a deep commitment to higher education.
In addition to my academic work, I bring over five years of experience as the Managing Director of a successful limited company, where I honed my skills in operational leadership, strategic development, and financial management. This commercial insight informs my approach to education, particularly in preparing students to meet the evolving demands of the business world.
I am pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA), focusing on students' psychological capital and its role in narrowing the achievement gap for those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. My passion is equipping future business leaders with the academic knowledge and practical skills essential for success.
My research explores the intersection of student engagement, psychological capital, and socioeconomic disparities in higher education. Specifically, I investigate how Positive Psychological Capital (PsyCap), a framework encompassing hope, efficacy, resilience, and optimism—can enhance academic performance and self-leadership among disadvantaged students. Additionally, I explore innovative teaching methods, such as Lego Serious Play, to support student identity development and learning outcomes. Through my work, I aim to contribute evidence-based strategies that foster inclusive and supportive educational environments.
