The working title of his research project is The Forgotten Investment(s) of Criminal Justice: a small-scale exploration into the significance of capital amongst long-term desisters previously involved with criminal justice. I am a current PhD candidate at Liverpool John Moore’s University, with a focused interest in studying and mapping the desistance journeys of long-term desisters who have achieved continuous periods of abstinence for between five and forty years. I have developed theoretical and professional expertise (and practical experience), concerning pertinent criminal justice issues regarding drug and alcohol (mis)use, rehabilitation, resettlement, complex needs, policing, social policy, desistance theory, and service provision for high risk offenders. An LJMU Alumni member since 2018, both as a BSc criminology and psychology graduate and holder of an MA in criminal justice. He has developed specialised expertise and practical experience in issues regarding drugs and alcohol, rehabilitation, complex needs, policing, social policy, and with the service provision concerning high risk offenders. He has practical experience of actively working in the criminal justice offender pathway service throughout the Merseyside region for the past eight years. He aspires to bring the lessons he learnt from his hard-won lived experiences, academic insight, and professional knowledge to the forefront of cutting-edge research in criminal justice, to influence and promote positive change within current UK service provision.
