Marc Provins is a Manchester-based photographer and Senior Lecturer in Fashion at Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU). With over two decades of experience in education, he has taught on multimedia, photography, and fashion courses.

Provins holds a BA (Hons) in Design (Photography) from Staffordshire University and an MA in Creative Technology from the University of Salford. His master's project, a video installation exhibited in Manchester, explored the traces individuals leave in both physical and virtual realms and examined how environments influence internal experiences.

At LJMU, he serves as the Year Tutor for Level 4 students on the Fashion Communication pathway, also working with final year students. During this time he has collaborated on live student project briefs with a broad range of partners, including BEPO, Liverpool One, John Lewis, Plexus Cotton Ltd., The Walker Art Gallery, and The Singh Twins. Before his tenure at LJMU, Provins was the Photography Programme Leader at Trafford College in Manchester and has held external examiner positions on BA (Hons) Photography programmes at the University of Central Lancashire and the University of Bolton.

As an active photographer, Provins has exhibited his work both nationally and internationally. Recent notable exhibitions include "Excess Baggage" (2024) and "Open World" (2019) both in Arles, France. His work explores themes of identity, environment, and the interplay between physical and virtual spaces. An ongoing project titled "Found" uses photography and moving image to explore and document the urban and suburban spaces he routinely inhabits.

Provins is a member of FACE (Fashion Academics Creating Equality) and Redeye, the Photography Network. He has also engaged in external collaborations with National Museums Liverpool and contributed to the 1823 Podcast discussing influential photography.
