Emily Hayes is a Lecturer in Graphic Design and Illustration at the Liverpool School of Art and Design, Liverpool John Moores University and is an active practitioner, working as freelance Illustrator.
Emily graduated from the Royal College of Art, London with a MA in Design Interactions where she worked with narrative, illustration, film and animation based on research, themes and issues surrounding the work of scientists and psychologists.
She holds a first class BA (Hons) in Graphic Arts from Liverpool School of Art, specialising in Illustration (including one year at the Universität der Kunste, Berlin in the Visuelle Kommunikation department).
As a freelance illustrator she creates map designs, shop signage, narrative illustrations, poster designs, book illustration through to character design for both print and digital media. Her clients and stockists include Intel, Bit Kom, Conran, We-Built-This-City, Somerset House and The Hepworth Wakefield.
Emily is passionate about image making, ideas, story telling, lettering, printmaking and drawing. She has a specialist interest in science communication, visualising information and concepts related to technological developments and scientific research, through illustration and animation for commissions, publications, presentations and exhibitions. Emily is particularly interested in making work that is educational, engaging and entertaining.
